The Durham Business Recovery Series presents Mental Health in the Workplace During COVID-19.
The mental health impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are likely to be far-reaching, as individuals cope with disruptions to work routines, the imposition of stay-at-home orders, and uncertainty about the future. Organizational leaders can play a proactive role in blunting these impacts and promoting psychological resilience among their teams. This one-hour presentation will discuss the pandemic’s expected impacts on mental health and describe the signs that an employee may be struggling. The PERMA Model of human flourishing (which stands for Positive Emotions; Engagement; Relationships; Meaning; and Achievement) will provide a framework for generating practical and effective strategies to help employees maintain a positive outlook and a sense of wellbeing amid uncertainty.
Speaker:
David Clarke is Coordinator of Communications and Training with Durham Mental Health Services. He has worked locally in community mental health for over 20 years as a case worker, a program supervisor, and now in his current role. David has delivered educational presentations to organizations including Ontario Shores for Mental Health Sciences, the Ontario Ministry of Revenue, and the Region of Durham.
