The Lake Scugog Historical Society is thrilled to announce our next Speaker Series event, featuring author and maritime advocate Eric Conroy. Join us on May 19th at the Scugog Memorial Library for a fascinating evening as Eric shares the incredible story behind his book, Saving Keewatin. As the last Edwardian-era steamship of her kind in the world, the SS Keewatin has a storied past—from her construction in Scotland in 1907 to her decades of service for the Canadian Pacific Railway on the Great Lakes. Eric Conroy, who served as a waiter on the ship as a teenager and later led the monumental effort to bring her back to Canada from Michigan, will provide a firsthand look at the preservation battles, the engineering marvels, and the cultural significance of this "Titanic" of the Great Lakes. Doors open at 6:30PM and the speaker starts at 7PM. It's suggested that you arrive early to get a seat! The event is free but the LSHS would graciously accept donations.

Fee
