THIS IS A DURHAM REGION PROJECT - NOT LIMITED TO ONE MUNICIPALITY
PineRidge Arts Council is holding a Durham wide - Snap a Selfie with Sculpture contest on Instagram #sculpturesofdurham . We are encouraging people to get out of the house, have some fun in Durham, and take selfies with some or all of the over 70 outdoor public works of art in their neighbourhood. From simply visiting a local sculpture for the first time, to planning a grand tour to see all, the timing and choice of locations are open. In COVID times, this is a safe way to set an outdoor goal, socially distance and "see" the pieces that have been placed for our enjoyment. Some players might like to follow a sculptor's work throughout Durham and some may want to hold a competition with family and friends.
To join in the game, photos can be shared on facebook with @pineridgearts tag and Instagram #sculpturesofdurham. Each month, PRAC will award the photographer of the best liked photo on Instagram $50.
List of over 70 public outdoor art forms can be downloaded - we are updating it as we learn of them https://pineridgearts.org/forms/locations_SculpturesOfDurham.pdf
The contest will run until May 31, 2021.
