Franz Joseph HAYDN’s fullness, richness and majesty are on display, in all parts of Symphony No.104 “London.” A prodigious composer, Haydn wrote more string quartets than Mozart and Beethoven combined - and a staggering 104 symphonies! Here we proudly present his final symphonic masterpiece. • Brazilian-Canadian composer Maria-Eduarda MENDES MARTINS is in apt company with her work “Echoing Mendelssohn”, merging the past with the present in an echoing pattern. Pulse, energy and modern influences imbue this piece.
Felix MENDELSSOHN takes his place on a high pedestal in this compelling wrap up. Mendelssohn’s Symphony No.3 “Scottish” is a treasure among orchestral works of the 19th century, a work capturing the immensity and darkness of Scotland with its distinctive culture.
We are pleased to welcome guest conductor, Maestro Eckart Preu in his Canadian debut performance.
