Welcome to the 2023 Sunderland Maple Syrup Festival! Now in its 26th year.
By the arena see a Petting Zoo & Pony Rides, Draft Horse display, Soper Creek Wildlife Rescue, First Nation Cultural Tours and Fallen Willow Forge demonstrations. Live stage entertainment including Lexy the Rap Dad.
Hop on a bus and travel to their sugar shack, where you will see a native and pioneer display, as well as the current production methods Paul Harder and his family use for their sweet creations.
On Saturday, the festival offers bathtub races and on Sunday, the 4-H Ontario’s lawn tractor pull demonstration.
And shoppers, take note! On both days, River and Church Streets will also be lined with vendors selling everything from syrup to toys, hand-crafted items, clothing and other great finds. Plus, Sunderland’s local shops are taking part in sponsoring many of the events.

Scugog Arts presents “Forest Limits” by Janette Rojas , open April 1st - 30th, 2023. Visit our space all month long to view the playful and adventurous paintings of artist Janette Rojas.
Janette Rojas works primarily in acrylic. She focuses on joyful images of everyday life rendered in vivid colour and expressive brush strokes. Of the many themes she likes to explore, she has a fascination for childhood play, friendships and people in nature as she travels across the province and beautiful country of Canada.
“Forest Limits” explores the interaction between human nature and the solace the we derive from the natural world that surrounds us. It exhibits the limitless connection between the enigmatic Canadian landscapes and the people who reach out to contact it.
Visit the Scugog Arts Space all through the month of April to view “Forest Limits”, and be sure to come by for the opening reception on Saturday, April 1st between 1-3PM. Meet the artist, browse the show, and enjoy light refreshments!

OSHAWA MUSIC WEEK is a week-long series of events that will take place APRIL 3 - 8, 2023. It features entertainment for music lovers and music-industry education for aspiring and established music-business professionals. Presented by students of the Music Business program, Durham College, this initiative is in its 23rd year, and strives to develop, support, and unite the music community. OMW reflects the diverse voices of Oshawa’s cultural landscape.
OMW 23 events will be presented in-person. Some portions may be Live streamed. We plan to showcase musical talent from Oshawa, Durham Region and beyond. Bands, recording artists, and DJs will perform. Local and international music practitioners will discuss timely and important music-industry topics. Emerging talent will participate in songwriting competitions and raise funds for music initiatives.
Oshawa Music Week and its predecessor Reel Music Festival are honoured to have hosted emerging musical talent, prominent guest speakers and up-and-coming music business managers. Previous performers include Haviah Mighty, Rural Alberta Advantage, Cale Crowe, The Professors of Funk, Kelsi Mayne, Rooks McCoy, DJ NDN formerly of A Tribe Called Red, Robyn Ottolini, Excuses Excuses, Ill Scarlet, Michou, Amorak, Constellations, Brighter Brightest, Eleven Past One, and many others in a variety of genres.
Notable past guest speakers: David Baksh (Sum 41), David Marsden (broadcaster and creator of CFNY – EDGE 102.1), Alan Cross, Eric Alper (Canadian Music Correspondent), Greig Nori (Treble Charger, Manager of Sum41), James Linderman (Berklee School of Music), Ian Stranger (Black Box Music - Classified, Crash Parallel, Teenage Kicks), Jessica Lemmon (event coordination and production management), and Tyler ‘T-Minus’ Williams (producer for Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, Ciara, Drake, and Justin Bieber).

You are invited to the Durham Farm Connections Open House
Durham Farm Connections Open House takes place on Wednesday, April 5th starting at 3:30 pm at the Luther Vipond Memorial Arena in Brooklin Ontario. This free event brings the farm to town and is an opportunity for people to meet local farmers, learn about Durham Region farms, and see farm animals and tractors.
The event starts at 3:30 pm and will run until 8:00 pm. During the open house, attendees can expect to see a variety of farm animals, such as cows, sheep, goats and chickens. They can also expect to see tractors and learn about crop and vegetable farming as well as maple syrup and apple cider production. In addition to meeting farmers and seeing the animals, there will be demonstrations and activities throughout the event. These will include cheese making demonstrations, sheep shearing, cow milking, meet a beekeeper and even a chance to meet a large animal veterinarian.
The Durham Farm Connections open house is an opportunity to learn more about farming, meet local farmers, and have a fun and educational experience with family and friends. Mark your calendar for April 5, and don't miss out on this exciting event!

OSHAWA MUSIC WEEK is a week-long series of events that will take place APRIL 3 - 8, 2023. It features entertainment for music lovers and music-industry education for aspiring and established music-business professionals. Presented by students of the Music Business program, Durham College, this initiative is in its 23rd year, and strives to develop, support, and unite the music community. OMW reflects the diverse voices of Oshawa’s cultural landscape.
OMW 23 events will be presented in-person. Some portions may be Live streamed. We plan to showcase musical talent from Oshawa, Durham Region and beyond. Bands, recording artists, and DJs will perform. Local and international music practitioners will discuss timely and important music-industry topics. Emerging talent will participate in songwriting competitions and raise funds for music initiatives.
Oshawa Music Week and its predecessor Reel Music Festival are honoured to have hosted emerging musical talent, prominent guest speakers and up-and-coming music business managers. Previous performers include Haviah Mighty, Rural Alberta Advantage, Cale Crowe, The Professors of Funk, Kelsi Mayne, Rooks McCoy, DJ NDN formerly of A Tribe Called Red, Robyn Ottolini, Excuses Excuses, Ill Scarlet, Michou, Amorak, Constellations, Brighter Brightest, Eleven Past One, and many others in a variety of genres.

Join the the Royal Canadian Legion and City of Pickering in celebrating Easter on April 8th, 2023!
The Bay Ridges Royal Canadian Legion Branch 606 will be hosting their annual Easter Parade along the usual Bay Ridges parade route. The parade theme is “The Legion’s Last Bunny Hop.” Following the parade, the Legion will host a free lunch at their branch sponsored by Triple Properties and provide free family fun activities.
The parade travels east on Annland Street from Liverpool Road to Krosno Boulevard then east on Krosno to Bayly Street. The parade ends at Bayly Street however the procession continues on to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #606 located at 1555 Bayly Street (one block west of Brock Road).

They become fast friends but more importantly, they find a way to communicate with each other, and this bond and connection help them maneuver a number of challenges along their journey. With teachable moments like respecting others' differences, how to sign different animals, and how to appropriately talk to deaf people, this show will both entertain and touch your heart.
